Typography print displayed above a sofa

A good poster size starts with the wall you actually have. Before ordering, measure the space, mark out the print with paper or masking tape, and look at it from where you normally sit. Administrative preparation. Surprisingly useful.

A4 to A0 poster dimensions

These are the paper dimensions, shown short side first. Rotate them for a landscape print. Inches are rounded; use the centimetre measurements when checking a frame fit.

Standard A-series paper sizes

A48.3 × 11.721 × 29.7
A311.7 × 16.529.7 × 42

A123.4 × 33.159.4 × 84.1

Not every design or format offers every size. The size selector on each MOP product page shows the options available for that particular print.

Choose a size for the space

A4 and A3: start here for a small wall, a shelf display or a group of several prints. Check the lettering from your usual viewing position: a compact print that looks clear in your hand may be harder to read across a room.

A2: worth testing when you want one print to hold its own above a desk or on a narrower wall. It is larger than A3 in both directions, so mark out the full rectangle rather than guessing from the name.

A1 and A0: consider these for a larger uninterrupted wall. Measure around furniture, sockets and light switches before assuming there is room. A large print also needs enough space around it to be seen as a complete design.

Test it before you order

  1. Measure the usable wall area, including space above furniture.
  2. Cut paper to the proposed size, or mark its corners with tape suitable for your wall finish.
  3. Stand back, sit down and check the view from the doorway.
  4. If comparing two sizes, photograph each outline from the same position.

There is no compulsory sofa-to-art ratio. A single print, a pair and a gallery wall occupy space differently. The useful test is whether your chosen arrangement feels balanced in your room.

Poster or framed print?

Choose a poster if you already own a suitable frame or want to choose your own. Check the frame's stated artwork opening: its outer measurement is not the paper size, and a mount can change the opening.

A framed print combines the artwork with a wooden satin-finish frame. The selected print size does not establish the frame's outside dimensions. If you have a tight space to fill, ask us to confirm the outside measurement before ordering.

Each product page has expandable size and materials information. Check those alongside the options before adding your print to the basket.
